Match Report: Team Sausage Fest vs Black Magic Team (1-6)

There comes a point in every team's journey when it turns a corner and things start to go right for it. For Team Sausagefest players, that moment appeared to have occurred last Sunday at the Great Western Stadium, Boon Lay Sec Sch Field.

The day had started off ominously. A scheduling mix-up had threatened to put an end to the game even before it started. However, the Sausages' spirits were un-dampened and the game eventually kicked off. For the first 20 odd minutes the opponents had the upper hand, creating a number of chances but failing to score. Soon, the Sausages created openings of their own. Galvanized, the players in white doubled their efforts.

Then something extraordinary happened. A mixup in the Black Magicians' defense gifted James Ho with an easy opening, and he took his chance superbly, deftly chipping the ball over the keeper into the goal. Team Sausagefest had taken the lead for the first time in its existence.
Dare they hope to dream of a victory? The players certainly thought so. Was this the moment when the Sausages turned the proverbial corner?

Alas, that goal was to be the only gift granted to us by Lady Luck. The quality of the Black Magicians eventually caught up with us, and we lost 6-1, a scoreline that perhaps reflected the gulf in experience between the 2 teams but certainly not the heart and determination displayed on the field. Team Sausagefest players can hold their delicious-looking heads up proudly. The corner is.....er.....just around the corner.
